2009/10
Term 5
Our work in Term 5 is centred around the book 'Tell Me a Picture', which is made up of various famous works of art. Each picture will be a vehicle for us to focus on different aspects of the curriculum.
Through the use of these visual images we will:
-
Study the work of the artists,
-
Create action poses in Art using mixed media,
-
Listen to and compose pieces of music appropriate to each picture,
-
Use the pictures as a stimulus for our gymnastic work,
-
Investigate why and how the Tudors explored the world,
-
Study St. Paul and the early Christian church. This will link to our SEAL topic called 'Relationships'.
In Literacy we will be focusing on sentence structure and developing our use of powerful vocabulary using various strategies linked to the use of visual images.
In Maths we will secure our knowledge and understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will then apply these skills in problem solving situations.
We will explore 'Gases around us' in Science when we look at what makes up the air we breathe, the effects of wind and what is in the fizzy drinks we have.
We will develop our skills as global citizens further as we investigate the causes and effects of climate change in Geography.
The week beginning 10th May is SAT week for Year 6.
The week beginning 17th May is Optional SAT week for Year 5.
